Convert PNGs to JPG for a much smaller file — pick the quality, and pick the background color that fills any transparent areas, since JPG has no alpha channel. White is the default; choose something that matches where the image will appear.
JPG is lossy: photos and gradients convert beautifully, but sharp text, line art, and UI screenshots can pick up faint ringing artifacts at lower quality settings. If the image needs transparency or pixel-perfect edges, keep it as PNG.
Questions, answered
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background color you pick — white by default.
